Transforming mandis in Madhya Pradesh: A high-tech revolution

In Madhya Pradesh, the establishment of a new high-tech market in Khargone is underway, promising numerous facilities for farmers. Mandi Secretary Lakshman Singh Thakur revealed that a large shed is being constructed in this market at a cost of ₹2.5 crores. This shed, set to be completed by March 15, 2024, will be 85 meters long and 20 meters wide, providing storage for produce and hosting various programs and events for farmers. The Madhya Pradesh government has earmarked 39 “A category” mandis, including Khargone, for modernization. The primary goal is to enhance facilities for farmers. The goal of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav is to modernize all the mandis in the state. Right now, Madhya Pradesh has 230 mandis, and 39 of them are getting a high-tech makeover in the first phase.

The new high-tech mandi being built in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, provides modern facilities for farmers.

The following facilities will be available in this high-tech mandi:

  • High-rise shed: This will facilitate easy entry and exit for farmers with their vehicles and provide convenience for storing produce. Additionally, programs and meetings involving farmers can be organized here.
  • Health services: The mandi will provide primary healthcare services for the well-being of farmers
  • Online sales platform: Farmers can sell their produce online from the comfort of their homes.
  • Night stay facility: Arrangements will be made for farmers to stay overnight in the mandi.
  • Digital features: Modern amenities such as digital display boards, electronic weighing scales, storage facilities, and an assessment lab will be present.
  • Additional amenities: The mandi will have a canteen, clean restrooms, gardens, solar energy facilities, and banking services, including an ATM. All these facilities aim to provide farmers with crucial support in their work and enhance their overall experience.

This upgrade will make it easier for farmers to sell their crops and get better prices. This initiative will not only help increase farmers’ income but also offer them improved and fruitful business interactions.
